Greenroom136 - Metromonger01
If you’re the kind of person who searches for a large boxy sling, you love X-PAC, big YKK zippers, safety belt harness and best hardware available, then the Metromonger01 from Greenroom136 will speak your language. After spending some time living with this 9L single-strap urban sling - part messenger, part utility pack - here’s what truly stands out.
Design Philosophy
The Metromonger01 isn’t trying to sell you an aesthetic; it’s trying to solve your daily carry problems.
Made in Malaysia by a great independent workshop, the bag embodies that rare blend of craft precision with real-world practicality in mind.
From the first touch, you sense that “built for life” ethos. The exterior, made from X-PAC VX42, feels structured and premium. There’s no loud logo, (although there was a small label at the front, which I completely removed in order to achieve a cleaner look; sorry Greenroom!) no unnecessary trim. Just top-notch materials and clean geometry.
This is a sling that trades flash for purpose and ends up looking better because of it.

The Carry Experience
The Metromonger01 sits in that perfect middle ground between a compact everyday sling and a full messenger bag.
Its 9L capacity hits the sweet spot: big enough for a tablet or 13” laptop, but tight enough to avoid the “gear hoarder” vibe.
Open it up and the organization layout makes immediate sense.
A rear padded compartment (in a purple corduroy lining) for a laptop or iPad. 13’’ iPad Pro fits like a glove but without a case or Apple Pencil attached.
A main chamber where I can fit Fujifilm X-T5, X100VI, DJI Action 5 pro, DJI Mic Mini and DJI Battery Case with ease. I could also pack a light jacket above them
A front admin panel with 3 neatly divided pockets for essentials - wallet, keys, smartphone, charger, pens.
Inside, the high-contrast 420D Gold Oxford Ripstop Nylon lining makes small gear easy to spot, even in low light.

Front pocket – bulky keys, big screen smartphone, two pouches.
Inside the main compartment: a well-structured layout with plenty of space for all your tech and more. Camera is Fujifilm X-T5 with 56mm 1.2 R WR lens.
Main compartment. Camera (X100VI), big sunglasses case, wallet, DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, DJI Mic Mini and DJI battery case.

Bottom compression straps and D-rings on both sides.
Back panel. Breathable and soft.
Comfort & Wearability
A good sling should disappear when you wear it - not in visibility, but in comfort.
The wide, padded shoulder strap distributes weight evenly, while the secondary stabilizer strap (though it is not necessary to use) locks the bag against your body.
Whether you just walk or dashing through a train platform, it stays exactly where you want it.
The shoulder strap made with 2" industrial grade safety belt harness, using a GR Cobra side release buckle by AustriAlpin gives off a quiet confidence.
If you’ve ever used a cheap sling that swings like a pendulum when you walk, the difference here is night and day.
Aesthetic
Visually, the Metromonger01 reads like a mix between technical gear and urban minimalism.
It’s an urban sling bag that pairs just as well with techwear fits, streetwear staples, or functional outerwear.
There’s a certain luxury in how it wears.
No branding war, no unnecessary flash. Just form, fabric, and flawless construction doing the thing.
That makes it perfect for anyone leaning into the “stealthy” or tech-inspired streetwear aesthetic.
Another D-ring attachment, available on both sides, plus the bottom one where you can pass the compression strap through it.
Strap detail. Velcro addition as an extra step of securing the removable and ambidextrous strap in place.
Durability
One of Greenroom136’s biggest strengths is longevity. Metromonger01 isn’t a seasonal drop. It’s a long-term investment.
The materials are overbuilt in the best way possible. After a few weeks of daily use, the bag breaks in slightly, softening at the edges without losing its structure.
Water rolls off the shell. The zippers stay smooth. The strap doesn’t fray.
Drawbacks
Weight: Because of its dense materials and hardware, it’s not the lightest sling out there. But it’s built to last, not to feel flimsy.
Noise: Those chunky YKK zippers sound industrial - a small detail, but one you’ll notice in quiet environments. And if you are from the brave ones that are using the bag without the zipper pullers, then good luck with the gling glong orchestra.
Verdict: A Modern Classic in Urban Carry
Metromonger01 captures what modern carry should be: durable, intelligent, and versatile enough to adapt to your style.
Whether you’re an everyday carry enthusiast, a creative on the move, a photographer that doesn’t want to shout “yes I carry a camera bag”, or simply someone who values objects that age gracefully, this bag earns its keep.
For GR19XX, this sling sits right in the crosshairs of functionality and form — gear that performs but also complements the visual codes of contemporary urban life. It’s what we’d call technical, relentlessly practical, and subtly stylish.
